Vera Neumann was born in 1907 in Stamford, CT. She received a BA in Fine Arts at Cooper Union Art School. Vera’s work has been showcased in many galleries and restrospectives. The Smithsonian did a retrospective of her work in 1972 called “A Salute to Vera, The Renaissance Woman” . FIT did a retrospective on her called “A Woman’s Hand—Designing in America” from 1949-1969, showcasing over 25 years of her original artwork. Vera was a pioneer in design who cross-licensed into linens, tableware, scarves and sportswear. All of these items sported the distinctive “Vera signature with a ladybug” trademark. Susan Seid purchased the company and all of its assets in 2005. She and her team have been revitalizing the brand.
